Like Old Times ; June Wrap Up

Today I wanted to conclude the month by sharing what I have been loving, thinking of, and experiencing this past June, June went by very quickly and this month has been a month of transitioning into summer.
this month I...

- Finished yearly testing! "yay!" this school year went by in a blink and I had a nice time.
Testing went well and I enjoyed it! Also, I am thrilled to be heading into High School coming Fall!

- Rehearsed for "Wizard of Oz" this month I auditioned for the current play being put on by a theatre near my area, I got a role as an Oz beautician and it has been a lot of fun so far rehearsing with a lovely cast and crew.

- Became a bookstagram representative
Over on my bookish Instagram account @the_fiction_feline I recently entered a rep search for one of my favorite account's business called Hey Atlas a brand that makes beautifully bookish journals, stickers, and bookmarks! I was over the moon excited when I found out that I had been picked out along a few others to represent this company for the next two months!
- Starting June I will become an official rep, Check out and follow my account for a promo code!-

- Marched for Truth. In the beginning of the month I joined a crowd of others in the "March for Truth" Check out my post for what my experience was!

This month I have been experimenting in trying different styles and playing around with my wardrobe! It is so freeing to not restrict yourself with branding your look with a certain style and everyday I express myself in how I am currently feeling not how I always am.

This month I have been in a transitioning / brainstorming stage of what direction I want to steer my blog in for the rest of the year, I want change whether that be in the name, content structure, or design and I want to make sure it is something I feel strongly in. "Iridescent Auras" is a name I like but it doesn't feel right for what I want to progress in, I want to allow myself to change and grow and find something that fits what I feel.
This coming July, I will start to share more on what I am thinking in terms of blog evolution and will be alerting you to what is to come.

Another totally different thing I have been noticing and thinking about is how children are raised and how that effects future generations.

By using force and anger to stop a child from doing something is only teaching them that yelling solves problems, instead I feel that there can and should be other ways of teaching children what is right and what is wrong.
You shouldn't shout at someone to stop shouting because that is a hypercritical way of speaking.
Instead by talking calmly and how you want them to talk is showing them the way to behave.
Let a child know that hitting someone or throwing a fit is not okay but instead of throwing your own type of fit to overthrow theirs be a calm and assertive leader and share the right way of dealing with not getting your way.

Speaking of teaching new generations something I feel strongly about is how gender stereotypes are often pushed onto children.
By raising a little boy to hold in his emotions and "be a man"
By using "acting like a little girl" to be an insult
instead raise children to be kind people instead of using gender to show them how to act.

In June I read:

"Me Before You"
a heartbreaking, beautiful story of romance and life.

"The Education of Margot Sanchez"
a complicated and wonderfully told story of a teen girls way of finding her footing

"Always and Forever, Lara Jean"
a lovely conclusion of the Jenny Han series, Sharing sisterhood, first love, and growing up

My playlist has been playing:

Georgia by Taylor Girlz
Dear Future Husband by Meghan Trainor
Summer Forever by Megan Nicole
How You Get the Girl by Taylor Swift

Have a wonderful day,

  1. I'm so so happy Taylor Swift is on Spotify now. I didn't realize there was such a big void without her there...

It's awesome that you became a bookstagram rep! You should be proud!

It sounds like you had a great month. I can't wait to see how you (and your blog) evolve in the coming days. Yay for happy/positive change!

    xx Rosie
